Recalling his juvenile memories at that neighborhood of Northern Cairo, Bermalion relives his early artistic practices in a series of paintings that he developed during the last couple of years. For example, the painting beneath titled ‘Breakdance’, features the hip hop that swept the world titles this vivid painting, while as key that series of nostalgic artworks. Not only for folkloric legacy element it evokes though forgotten nowadays, but for the stories of a lost generation who went through tough cultural and social changes.
At the Mawlid, which is being held at the corner of the street where Barmillion lived his childhood, there was this old man who walked with colorful roses, and pointed to the children as he tightened with his teeth a chain of iron on which fish were hung from wood. He wore that strange hat, made of wool, and exclaimed from time to time: This is the world!
