Bermalion
(Abdou M. El-Bermawy) is a Painter, Art Critic and Writer whose body of artwork
is focusing on the human form, interactions, and the internalization of life
experiences.
His paintings often feature emotive eyes of alternately
vulnerable, longing and fatigued persons. He considers play to be critical to
his practice, though his works convey an emotional intensity and passion. The
style dominating his paintings is reflecting such playful spirit.
Bermalion has graduated from Cairo
University in 1994, and obtained an MA in political studies. He received
classical Arabic calligraphy and art studies as well. He worked as a researcher
and human rights activist. Moreover, he writes in arts, history, and culture of
the Middle East.
Bermalion’s artworks have been exhibited in
Cairo, New York, Dubai, Doha, and Abu Dhabi. His solo exhibitions include:
